A four-year varsity shortstop starter at Lafayette High School (FL), Herron earned recognition as one of the top players in the state. He was named First Team All-State Shortstop by The Gainesville Sun and also received All-District and All-Region honors. Known for his versatility, he excelled as a pitcher, shortstop, and center fielder while posting an exceptional .542 career batting average.
He continued his career at Daytona State College, where he became the starting shortstop as a freshman and hit .389 at the collegiate level against top junior college competition. As Head Coach, Herron’s vision is to build a family-oriented team culture where every player knows they are valued, supported, and held accountable to one another. He believes the strongest teams are built on trust, unity, and relationships, where teammates can rely on each other through every challenge, every game, and every moment of the season. His goal is to create an environment where athletes compete hard, grow together, and play for something bigger than themselves.
Coach Herron focuses on developing complete athletes through detailed instruction, high-energy practices, and game-ready fundamentals. His main areas of emphasis include:
-Pre-pitch routines both defensively and offensively to build readiness, focus, and confidence every pitch
-Bat path drills designed to improve barrel control, consistent contact, and game power
-Footwork development through agility ladders, quickness drills, and explosive movement training
-Defensive awareness and softball IQ, teaching players where to be on the field in every situation regardless of where the ball is hit
-Situational hitting and baserunning awareness
-Leadership, toughness, and confidence under pressure
Coach Herron’s mission is to prepare athletes to compete at the highest level possible while building the work ethic, character, and confidence that will serve them long after the game is over.
